The SA Greenberg Lab: The Inclusion Body Myositis Research Project

Bioinformatics involves the management and analysis of complex biological datasets. The Human Genome Project (1990-2003) was a catalyst for the development of technologies capable of producing such large biological datasets and the field of bioinformatics evolved during this period of time to become closely integrated with such technologies. This discipline combines traditional informatics, the management of information, with computational biology, the analysis of biological data. The approaches to analysis highly inform the performance of the biological experiments used to generate data, so that bioinformatics is a discipline with rich interactions among these three components.
